We all know water is precious. Without it there would be no life on earth. Given the current climate and global challenge of sourcing and saving this most valuable resource we decided to explore the images that are invariably evoked when we think about water. From fantasies  of Mermaids to the creatures that rely on it, and even the results from the lack of it.

"As a child growing up in Far North Queensland in the 70's, I was 4 before I saw rain. It was certainly an event as everyone I knew ran from their houses and hugged each other and cried and sang and danced in the street. Unfortunately, it didn't stop raining causing one of the worst flood events in Queensland's history.

The epic power of water whether it be not enough or too much is quite remarkable. As a potter our craft is a reflection of nature, requiring just the right amount of water for success. Too dry the clay cracks; too wet and it returns to the slurry which created it."

"My memory of growing up in West Wales is very different to Jaynes early experiences in Queensland. Wales being a very wet country we would have a celebration on the infrequent occasions when the sun came out and the rain stopped for a short break.

Charters Towers is a wonderful place to live. Just sometimes when there has been no rain in months and the temperature is pushing 40, I dream of the ocean. The sun is shining and there is a cool breeze blowing in on the waves. This dream is reflected in my pottery, sea birds, fish and beach huts."

More about artist Sian Rowe...

I grew up in Wales. I have lived in Charters Towers for about 35 years and have been a member of the Charters Towers Pottery Club for 28 years.

I make hand made sculptures using Feeney's BRT and White Raku clay. I use a combination of slabs and flattened coils of clay to make my pieces. I decorate with coloured slips, underglazes, oxides and glazes. The pieces are fired twice in an electric kiln.

I enjoy making a variety of subjects: the old churches of Charters Towers, the fruit bats of Lissner Park and brightly coloured fish from my imagination.

A live-action prequel feature film following a young Cruella de Vil.

Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil.

“Cruella,”  set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs.

Stars: Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry

She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”).

But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella. Disney’s “Cruella” is directed by Craig Gillespie (“I Tonya”) from a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel & Steve Zissis.

Produced by Andrew Gunn (“Freaky Friday”), Marc Platt (“Mary Poppins Returns”) and Kristin Burr (“Christopher Robin”), with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff and Glenn Close serving as executive producers. Two-time Oscar®- winning costume designer Jenny Beavan (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “A Room with a View”) creates the dazzling and imaginative costumes, which take on a life of their own.

note: CRUELLA contains several sequences with flashing lights that may affect those who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy or have other photosensitivities.

BLOOM Sings...

Stevie Nicks, Carole King and Linda Ronstadt Songbook [LIVE]

Stevie Nicks is best known as the vocalist and songwriter for Fleetwood Mac but is also a chart-topper in her own right. Collectively, her work both as a member of Fleetwood Mac and as a soloist has produced over forty top 50 hits and sold over 140 million records. She is celebrated as one of the world’s top “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” by Rolling Stone Magazine.

Hailing as one of the 20th century’s most successful female songwriters and having penned over 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100, Carole King is also a New York Times best-seller for her memoir ‘A Natural Women’ and has also had the story of her life played out on Broadway for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.  She has been inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall Of Fame and recipient of a Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song – the first woman to be honoured.

Linda Ronstadt is a name familiar with many and one that spans numerous genres. She is one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time whose voice and naive sex appeal have sold her in excess of 100 million records globally.  She has released over 30 studio albums, is the winner of 11 Grammys, three American Music Awards and one Emmy Award.

And then there’s Bloom, a singer in her prime belting out the songs of these three wonderful Women.  Bloom is highly applauded as one of Australia’s greatest power vocalists in her own right and has already garnered International acclaim for her effortless soulful vocal resonance of power vocalists Adele and Amy Winehouse with her Adele & Amy Songbook tour and more recently a national tour performing the hits of one of her idols in the Linda Ronstadt Songbook.

An epic adventure about a headstrong girl longing for a place to belong who discovers a kindred spirit when her life intersects with a wild horse, Spirit Untamed is the next chapter in the beloved story from DreamWorks Animation.

Lucky Prescott (Isabela Merced, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) never really knew her late mother, Milagro Navarro (Eiza González, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), a fearless horse-riding stunt performer from Miradero, a small town on the edge of the wide-open frontier.

Like her mother, Lucky isn’t exactly a fan of rules and restrictions, which has caused her Aunt Cora (Academy Award® winner Julianne Moore) no small amount of worry. Lucky has grown up in an East Coast city under Cora’s watchful eye, but when Lucky presses her own luck with one too many risky escapades, Cora picks up stakes and moves them both back with Lucky’s father, Jim (Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal), in Miradero.

Lucky is decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy little town. She has a change of heart when she meets Spirit, a wild Mustang who shares her independent streak, and befriends two local horseback riders, Abigail Stone (Mckenna Grace, Captain Marvel) and Pru Granger (Marsai Martin, Little). Pru’s father, stable owner Al Granger (Emmy winner Andre Braugher, Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine), is the best friend of Lucky’s father.

When a heartless horse wrangler (Emmy nominee Walton Goggins, FX’s Justified) and his team plan to capture Spirit and his herd and auction them off to a life of captivity and hard labor, Lucky enlists her new friends and bravely embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to rescue the horse who has given her freedom and a sense of purpose, and has helped Lucky discover a connection to her mother’s legacy and to her Mexican heritage that she never expected.

Spirit Untamed is the next chapter in DreamWorks Animation’s beloved franchise that began with the 2002 Oscar-nominated film Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron and includes an Emmy-winning TV series. The film is directed by Elaine Bogan (Netflix and DreamWorks Animation Television’s Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) and is produced by Karen Foster (co-producer, How to Train Your Dragon). The film’s co-director is Ennio Torresan (head of story, The Boss Baby), and the film’s score is by composer Amie Doherty (Amazon’s Undone, DreamWorks Animation’s Marooned).
