Lyrics
Now I've heard there was a secret chordThat David played, and it pleased the LordBut you dont really care for music, do you?It goes like this, the fourth, the fifthThe minor falls, the major liftsThe baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proofYou saw her bathing on the roofHer beauty and the moonlight overthrew herShe tied you to a kitchen chairShe broke your throne, and she cut your hairAnd from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah
Well, maybe there's a God aboveAs for me all I've ever learned from loveIs how to shoot somebody who outdrew youBut it's not a crime that you're hear tonightIt's not some pilgrim who claims to have seen the LightNo, it's a cold and it's a very broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, HallelujahInstrumental
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah
Well people I've been here beforeI know this room and I've walked this floorYou see I used to live alone before I knew yaAnd I've seen your flag on the marble archBut listen love, love is not some kind of victory march, noIt's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time you let me knowWhat's really going on belowBut now you never show it to me, do you?And I remember when I moved in youAnd the holy dove she was moving tooAnd every single breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah
Now I've done my best, I know it wasn't muchI couldn't feel, so I tried to touchI've told the truth, I didnt come here to London just to fool youAnd even though it all went wrongI'll stand right here before the Lord of songWith nothing, nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah
Hallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, HallelujahHallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

ADAM HARVEY & BECCY COLE [LIVE]

‘THE GREAT COUNTRY SONGBOOK VOLUME III’ TOUR

SAT 10 SEPT 8pm

When the entire music industry began to re-emerge after a difficult few years, Beccy Cole suffered one of the worst years of her life personally. Adam stayed in constant contact with his good friend and suggested that they record a new album together, hence the creation of a new duets album "The Great Country Songbook Volume 3", along with an Australia wide tour.

Beccy said in a beautiful post on social media, “A few months ago when I wasn't doing so well, my friend Adam Harvey checked in on me every week or so. He asked if there was anything he could do and I said 'you could tour with me again, they are my happiest times.' So he changed his year around and orchestrated this whole project. A new album, and a tour. He said if I got better he would tour with me till the bloody wheels fall off! That's what you call a friend.”

Over a period of 20 years Adam and Beccy have toured Australia together a dozen times. Country music fans always regard the opportunity to see these great mates on stage together as a real treat and an absolute highlight.

Don't miss Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole in concert performing some great tracks off their new album along with plenty of old favorites. Come along and enjoy a fantastic night of music, stories and humor, which is guaranteed to have you singing along and in fits of laughter!?

“Western is a force of nature...Great storyteller, feisty, highly enjoyable; … Warm, witty and supremely talented … captivating …fantastic instrumentalists”

★★★★★ Broadway Baby

“When the music stops, there is the longest silence. Then Melissa Western’s voice reappears, snatching you away again, inspiring a big grin on your face. You knew she was never gone for long, yet in that silence you still missed her.”

★★★★★ Three Weeks

At first glance Melissa Western may appear the quintessential sultry diva, but scratch a little below the surface and you soon find a brainy entrepreneur with an elastic voice and a particular addiction to research.

“I’m really quite a nerd. I can’t help researching! I’d be learning another tune sung by a gorgeous, amazing female singer and then want to know more about their life, so I’d dig and dig and be so surprised to learn about their lives” says Western. “As my understanding of the mid 50s developed I was drawn to the stories of Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt and Etta James. Though very different in their styles of music, I noticed this common thread of genre trailblazing, of three women of colour breaking glass ceilings all around them and paving the way for so many who followed after them”.

It’s these stories that fuel Western’s feast of jazz, soul and cabaret. Joining Melissa onstage is a versatile and talented all-female jazz band featuring some of Brisbane’s very best musicians.

1954: Ella, Etta, Eartha builds on the sellout success of Western’s previous jazz cabaret Oh Lady Be Good. A sellout at the Queensland Cabaret Festival, Anywhere Theatre Festival, Brisbane Jazz Club and Edinburgh Fringe, the show has won over audiences from the prestigious Brisbane City Hall Main Auditorium to the Jumpers & Jazz Festival in Warwick.

Having toured around the world to the Speigeltent at the Canterbury Festival, a UK tour (Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire), Brisbane Jazz Club, Maleny Arts Council, Gold Coast Jazz and Blues Festival and more Melissa and her top notch jazz team are over the moon to be presenting a brand new cabaret in 2022.
