‘Their ability to play as if drawing from a shared musical consciousness and their subtle nuances of tempo, bordered on the uncanny’.
 – The West Australian

Currently touring USA as KD Lang opener, the Grigoryan Brothers’ are being celebrated by an entire new audience. Taking a quick break to perform 2 shows (Townsville & Charters Towers) before moving south to play... https://www.grigoryanbrothers.com/tour-dates

Although regarded as Australia’s finest guitar duo performing much of the instrument’s standard classical repertoire, the Grigoryan Brothers’ passion is to expand their horizons through new arrangements, their own compositions and commissions. This ambition can be heard as the brothers take the guitar into genres such as jazz, folk and contemporary music. There are no boundaries, only new frontiers to cross. In concert, mix it all together and you have a dimension to guitar-playing rarely seen in the musical world.

“The Grigoryan Brothers have a reputation of performing together so emphatically, they become extensions of each other.”
 – Courier Mail

When not on stage they are in the studio, having released six duo albums, four of which have been nominated for ARIA awards (Australia’s prestigious music awards).

The brothers have also performed with symphony orchestras and at international festivals in Australia and Europe. Slava continues in his position as Artistic Director of the Adelaide International Guitar Festival, a position he has held since 2010.

Piano Recital - Mt Leyshon Auditorium
2pm Sun 17 SEPT 2017
 Recital Program

Roman Rudnytsky in an internationally active concert pianist of Ukrainian background whose frequent performances take him all over the world - to every continent and places in-between. He is in fact one of the most traveled of all concert pianists, having played in more countries than almost all others. As of 2010, he has performed in about 95 countries - more countries than most classical performers of any kind have played in.

A graduate of the famous Juilliard School in New York, Roman also did additional studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and at masterclasses in Austria (the "Mozarteum") and Italy.

Mr. Rudnytsky is a prizewinner in 10 piano competitions, including such prestigious ones as the International Leventritt Competition (New York) and International J.S. Bach Competition (Washington) and, in Italy, the "F.Busoni" and "A. Casagrande" International Piano Competitions. He has made numerous recordings in Poland, Australia and the United States.

Since 1972, Mr. Rudnytsky has been a member of the piano faculty of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio (U.S.A.). DONT SHOOT ME: I'M ONLY THE PIANO PLAYER with DAVID SCHEEL [LIVE music comedy]

19 Aug SAT 2PM
DON’T SHOOT ME I’M ONLY THE PIANO PLAYER
[LIVE comedy music] with David Sheel

Tickets $15 | $12 group 10+

DAVID SCHEEL is a true Australian success story. So much so that he is regarded internationally as one of the finest solo musical comedy performers in the world.

.............................................

Calling ALL Pianists – we have a special opportunity for you
11am 19 Aug SAT Piano Masterclass
with David Sheel! not just for pianists...
$15  limited places.  Book early
 .............................................

Born in Adelaide, David first tasted success in England, starring in the famous satirical News Revue in London's West End. He then turned to devising solo shows, and the result was DON'T SHOOT ME, I"M ONLY THE PIANO PLAYER. An instant hit, sell-out London performances were followed by 3 consecutive Edinburgh Festivals, and the critical acclaim that goes with them.

Not surprisingly, David soon found himself a regular on British TV and radio, in addition to touring widely to some 30 countries, and putting in guest appearances with artists as diverse as Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, Eartha Kitt, Ben Elton, Jay Leno (in Los Angeles), Norman Wisdom and Patricia ("Hyacinth Bucket") Routledge.

In DAVID SCHEEL's concerts you can expect to hear anything from a well-known folk tune played in the styles of various famous composers plus an i-Pod mini (!), 2 different pieces played with different hands at the same time, and a medley of the 20 worst tunes ever written.

His raconteur-style send-ups of the ridiculous include true stories of bad pianos he's had to play, sharp-edged commentary on the celeb lives of Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton & Co., and equally topical digs at politicians. His hilarious translation of the lyrics of Waltzing Matilda is already an established comedy classic, and it's set to be joined by his latest offering: Everything You Need to Know About Music Explained in 5 Minutes. All this in a huge range of voices and accents, which have led to frequent comparisons with Peter Ustinov, whilst his brilliant musical spoofs on the piano (as well as his serious playing of the instrument) saw him dubbed the new Victor Borge very early on in his career.

The BBC's Arts Review programme described David as being "as funny as any, wittier than most, and, uniquely, a concert pianist of international stature...He stands alone, in a class of his own." Similar accolades came from the US media when he made his American debut 17 years ago, and both the USA and Canada have been firmly on his annual itinerary ever since.

David is perhaps the only classical musician to be invited to perform at major international comedy festivals, and, equally, the only comedian to perform regularly at classical music festivals, and his seasons at these have been consistently sold out.

“A Master of the keyboard” [The Sunday Times, London]

”The only show in town that can satisfy lovers of classical music and stand-up comedy alike.” [San Francisco Chronicle]

"The cleanest, funniest show in London...perfect timing, delicious pausing for maximum effect" [The Stage, London]
