Luke Kennedy
Luke Kennedy shot to international attention in 2013 as Ricky Martin’s grand finalist on season two of television phenomenon, The Voice Australia. As series runner-up, Luke achieved a #1 single on the iTunes charts with of ‘Time To Say Goodbye’. His first solo album ‘A Time For Us’ debuted at #6 on the ARIA charts. Luke is a founding member of big band swing superstar Swing On This and was a member of Australian classical crossover sensation The TEN Tenors. For The Little Red Company, Luke has appeared in Rumour Has It, From Johnny to Jack, Christmas Actually, The IsoLate Late Show, There’s Something About Music and Your Song.

Irena Lysiuk
Irena is a versatile opera singer, musical theatre and pop singer. Since graduating the Queensland Conservatorium in with a Grad. Dip. in Music Studies and a Bachelor of Music, Irena has worked extensively with Opera Queensland and The Little Red Company. Irena played Gretel in OQ and
shake & stir’s school touring production Hansel and Gretel and Adina in Fizz!, as well as chorus roles in OQ’s mainstage QPAC productions including Ruddigore, Don Giovanni, A Flowering Tree, Tosca and Orpheus & Eurydice.
In 2021, she embarked on a 27-venue tour in OQ’s Are You Lonesome Tonight. For The Little Red Company, Irena has appeared in The IsoLate Late Show, Christmas Actually and Your Song.

 Roll Up! Roll Up! Flipside Circus is back ... Whether it’s tackling the trapeze or harnessing the hula-hoop, your kids will have a blast at Flipside Circus’ workshops.

No matter what your child’s skill level is, Flipside Circus trainers will help them learn new circus skills and give them a chance to show off.

Flipside Circus’ expert trainers work with young people to teach ground and aerial circus skills including juggling, hula-hoop, acro-balance, mini-trampoline, tumbling, and trapeze.

The workshops are challenging and focus on; building self-confidence, physical skills and fitness, and teamwork.

A bouncy and active  workshop with lots of play for beginners! Flipperoos is a play-based workshop that encourages young children to explore circus in a nurturing environment.

COVID-19 SAFE PLANS
The World Theatre and Flipside will ensure the safety of participants through Qld Health approved COVID-19 safe plan,  and under the Dance and Physical Performing Arts Industry COVID safe plan.

In addition to the Industry COVID safe plan and Flipside Circus' overarching COVID plan, each residency will have particular COVID gig protocols including; registration processes, ensuring clean spaces, practicing good hygiene, physical distancing, controlling the flow of participants, capacity limits, as well as increased cleaning measures including additional time for cleaning and participant’s registration. These protocols mean that some apparatus and activities that Flipside normally offers as part of its residency programs won't be available or will be limited.





“Circus is a great way to challenge yourself and learn new skills you never thought possible,” said Flipside’s creative producer Robert Kronk.

The World Theatre and Flipside Circus are looking for ages 8 to 14 to participate in the residency program.

Dustier than Ever is a 90 minute Show presented with the permission of Joy McKean, Slim Dusty's wife has been performed over 100 times in the last 5 years, with a devotion to, admiration of and love for the songs of Slim Dusty.

Chris Cook plays fast and furious guitar, highly polished bluegrass banjo and energetic country fiddle with his distinctive and inimitable style, infectious enthusiasm and extensive repertoire. Chris is a multi-instrumentalist and song-writer who wrote 3 songs recorded by Slim Dusty, and is accompanied by a very able double-bass player who also sings and a drummer/percussionist.


Chris has recently performed by invitation with Anne Kirkpatrick and Slim Dusty's Band ,The Travelling Country Band .

The songs and music are accompanied by Chris's encyclopedic knowledge of Slim's music and snippets from times he and Slim spent together. Dustier than Ever is a Show to be remembered.

2018 Community Workshops... express your interest!

When talented professional artists perform at The World Theatre, we may sometimes be able to program opportunities for community members to learn new skills from a professional in their field, or even participate in the performance.

Please express your interest as soon as you can, as these opportunities need to be organised well in advance to fit with travel plans and other tour arrangements, and booking will depend on community feedback.

VOICE/CABARET:
WORKSHOP #1 Cabaret Workshop: Life is A Cabaret - This 3-hour workshop is designed to help singers discover their on-stage cabaret persona and interpret repertoire in a fresh way through exploration of story-telling, character, dialogue/links, set lists, songwriting/arranging.

WORKSHOP #2 Advanced Vocal Masterclass: The Art of Auditioning - This 2-hour workshop/masterclass will help demystify what can be a daunting process - the audition; professional and amateur theatre productions, vocal examinations, performances and entry into tertiary institutions.

WORKSHOP #3 Hitting the High Notes - Introduction to basic singing technique for the amateur singer .This 2-hour workshop explores the most mysterious instrument of all; the voice. Learn the fundamental elements of vocal technique through group exercises in an informative and practical, but relaxed group environment.



BALLET :
WORKSHOP #1 a beginners class with  Ballet’s Company Artists including a basic ballet technique
WORKSHOP #2 an intermediate/advanced ballet technique class (with or without a 15 minute Spanish Fan Dance lesson)
WORKSHOP #3 An Open Company Class for the public to watch. 

Melbourne City Ballet is able to offer
two small appearances within the ballet for young danceartists. Our program exists where young dancers can come take part in a workshop prior to the performance date and those deemed appropriate, may be offered small parts within the ballet itself.

DANCE:
WORKSHOP Tap / Percussion / Dance tailored to the participants for a range of ages and abilities.
